How to apply for a grant
The Eastern Star Foundation has one grant round per year. Applications for our next grant round will be accepted from 1 September to 30 October 2021. Organisations can apply for either a grant of up to $50,000, or a grant of up to $100,000.

Outlined below are the steps to apply for a grant from the Eastern Star Foundation:
Read the information on what we fund and our Theory of Change.
2.
Ensure that your program or initiative qualifies, and check that it will support the Eastern Star Foundation’s Theory of Change.
3.
Check that your organisation is a registered Australian charity and that it has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status under Item 1 of the table in Subdivision 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.
4.
Ensure that you can quantify the impact and evidence-based outcomes that your organisation’s program or initiative will have in the community.
5.
Understand the limitations that apply to your grant application (see below):
- Only one application can be made per organisation within any twelve-month period.
- Existing grants need to be acquitted by Eastern Star Foundation before an organisation can apply for a new grant.
- An applicant cannot reapply for a previously declined project, except by invitation from Eastern Star Foundation.
- Organisations that have been registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) for less than three years should not apply, except by invitation following discussion with Eastern Star Foundation.
- An applicant cannot reapply for a project where Eastern Star Foundation has funded that project at any time during the previous three years, except by invitation following discussion with Eastern Star Foundation.

Applications open on 1 September 2021
Applications close on 30 November 2021
Assessment and approval by the Eastern Star Foundation Board between November 2021 and January 2022
Successful applicants to be advised during February 2022
Charitable organisations that comply with these guidelines can submit their application to Eastern Star Foundation during the open period.
Charitable organisations who have applied for a grant may also be required to:
1.
Complete additional documentation / submit further detailed proposals.
2.
Participate in face-to-face presentations
3.
Allow Eastern Star Foundation to conduct an on-site visit.
If successful, then you will be required to report the outcomes of your program or initiative to the Eastern Star Foundation.
